Registration Policy

K-W Granite Club Registration Policy 2024-25

As several leagues may be at capacity, the following registration policy will be used to give preference to returning members from the 2022/2023 season while welcoming and encouraging new members to the KW Granite Club leagues as availability allows.

Registered means a signed form AND paid in full or signed up for installments.

Returning Members

Returning members and new members can register as soon as registration is open. Preference will be given to returning members for the SAME league as they played last year.

As of Sept 1, 2024, registration is open on a first come first serve basis to returning and new members.

Registrants will be placed in one of two Registration Sections:

  1. The Individual Section if they register as an individual
  2. Team Section if they register as a team as described below.

Team Entries – requires 3 registered members (at least 2 previously in that league).

Returning members that are placed in the Individual Section are not necessarily guaranteed their entry. Date and time are factors; individuals will be placed on teams as positions become available.

After Sept 1, 2024, and after all returning members who have previous played in that league have been processed (either slotted into Individual or Team sections), then returning members selecting a new league are slotted into the Individual or Team section. If the league reaches capacity, then the registrant is put on a WAIT list (based on registration date and time).

As of Sept 1, 2024, spots will be secured first come first serve for registration, based on date & time.

If someone was listed as part of someone else’s team entry and has not registered and paid, they are removed IF there is someone on the WAIT list for that league (would either be a returning member opting for a new night or a new member).

Team Compositions

Open  Teams may be any combination of genders, playing in any order
Mixed Teams must consist of two or more different gender identities with the following structure: positions of Skip and Vice must have players identifying as two different genders and again Lead and Second players must also identify as two different genders.
Men All players are male
Women       All players are female

Most leagues are based on teams and these teams play together through the season. League convenors will assist in putting team entries together as required.

Exceptions to team compositions may be made at the discretion of the league convenor to maximize the placement of registered individuals and experience levels, i.e. mixed teams with alternate team compositions.

The published league listing will indicate the throwing order and is the official team listing when required, such as playoffs, spares, and external events. General curling rules will apply for all league play.

Exceptions to league formats require approval from the Board of Directors.

League Registration Closure

Convenors may request (by contacting the office) that registration for their league be closed when the league is

  1. full or
  2. 5 days before the league start date.
